Greetings in the name of our Risen Savior. I trust that all is well with you, your family, and the church for which you labor.
The intent of this note is to invite you to be one of the many speakers from across the brotherhood to speak at the Ministers' Annual Appreciation Conference to be held November 13-18, 2010 at the Hanging Moss Rd. Church of Christ in Jackson,MS. Ministers from Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Georgia, New York, Alabama, California and other states will be preaching in this Conference and we want you to be among them.
Undoubtedly, your presence and participation will greatly enhance the purpose of the conference which is to honor ministers of the gospel of Christ for their works sake. The honorees last year included: Dr. David Lane for Mentoring Impact; Dr. Shelton Gibbs, III for Congregational Development Impact; Arnelious Crenshaw for Expository Preaching Impact; Dr. Andrew Hairston for Successful Social and Spiritual Integration Impact; Dr. Calvin Bowers for Ministerial Transition Impact; Herman Wesley, III for Print Media Impact and David C. Benford for City Unity Impact. Others will be honored as determined by the nominations received the following year.
We would like for all sermons to be geared toward the experiences of a preacher, if possible; if not something inspiring to everyone. As a fourth generation preacher I have firsthand knowledge of many evangelists and pulpiteers who have sacrificed their minds and bodies over the years without any formal program of honor. Many have left us in death and it is to this end that we have concocted this venue of appreciation.
Please let us know what day during this time frame, November 13-18 that you will be able to speak and your flexibility of days. Please prepare two sermons because it may be possible you will be asked to deliver them both. Space is provided for you to list both sermons and their associated texts in the "Comments" section "under online registration."
If we don't hear from you by mail or phone by July 30, 2010 we will necessarily assume you will not be able to participate this year and we will look forward to your participation at another time.
Additionally, the conference will have a National Lectureship format where the speakers bear their own financial expenses. Also, there will be a registration fee of $75.00 per person which must accompany your agreement to speak and must be received by August 15, 2010. Early registration will be $60.00 per person if received by July 15, 2010.
If you plan to be with us during this historic festive event, we will do every reasonable thing within our power to make you feel at home and welcomed.
Also, in regard to our souvenir booklet which is being assembled, the opportunity for you to purchase an ad is yours. The booklet will be nice and will have helpful, memorable, and collectible photographs one would be able to cherish in later years. You will receive a booklet with your registration. The cost for congratulatory ads is as follows: Whole pages are $100.00; one-half pages are $75.00 and one-fourth pages are $50.00. The ad information should also be sent to Joe D. Gibbs, Sr. at the Ashbury Lane address. You also have the option of designing your ad and sending the copy and payment on line. Go to our website and click on "on line payment."
